Most oats have husks that need to be removed before eating, a task that is not easily accomplished by the small grower. As with wheat, this hull sheds easily when threshed. Oats grow well in the northeast. For the highest of yields, plant as soon as you can work the soil in the spring. These oats have a medium straw and are resistant to crown rust. Sow at 3#/1000 sq. ft. or 100#/acre. Organic.
Though these oats are not a heritage grain, the recently-developed hull-less quality encouraged us to offer them as another good grain choice for the home gardener or small grower.
